I've been thinking a lot recently about why video games have been such a huge part of my life for so long, and I think the answer (or one of them) is that they're an opportunity for expression. If you've followed my exploits in smash or Rivals of Aether, you probably know that I love playing in ways that deviate from the norm. The fact that those games allow me to pursue a playstyle that matches my understanding of and interest in various elements of the game is a big part of why I can play those games for thousands of hours while I move on from most games after a single playthrough, but Ori and the Will of the Wisps caught my attention in the exact same way. It's the only single-player game that's ever made me feel as if I have that same ability to imprint myself on the game through my playstyle, and that's precisely why it's my favorite game of all time.

Big thanks to Fuzz for helping me talk through the concept for this video, and to both him and Tealz for recording some of the gameplay footage used throughout the video.
