Console Comparison #8 - Rise 2: Resurrection (PSX/Saturn)
CONSOLE COMPARISON SERIES: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4p_S0oOG_EGyejcNXTXPRbo75IPWnTpJ
The sequel to the infamous Rise of the Robots, Rise 2: Resurrection doesn't do all too much to improve upon it's predecessor. While Rise 2 has things such as Fatalities added in, the overall experience while playing this game is extremely tedious and rather dull no matter which version you play.
A few notes for those that actually read video descriptions:
- It isn't a fault of the capture equipment, the PSX version is actually that dark compared to the Saturn version. The positioning of the action during fighting is also slightly different vertically as well.
-The PSX version also has excessive dithering on stages and sprites as well, something absent from the Saturn which makes it much easier to look at.
-The In-game Credits at the end of this video show that four programmers worked on the game, but the manual for the game reveals that these programmers singularly worked on the four ports that exist for the game (PC/Mac/PSX/Saturn). For those interested, Andy Clark ported the PSX version while Tony Stoddart ported the Saturn version.
Game footage was captured from actual NTSC copies running on actual game consoles. Game footage was captured from both systems using LevelHike RGB to HDMI cables.
