Great contra game so far. I will have to play Castlevania Rebirth soon too. There is also Gradius Rebirth and a Blaster Master remake on the Wii that I may work on at some point. Castlevania is likely to be done soon.
This covers about the first half of the game. You get unlimited continues and there seems to be one checkpoint per stage. I edited it all so that the video is fluid and doesnt show the continue screens. This ends up not showing the checkpoints but if you look closely youll see where the edits are and see the lives change suddenly. Those are the checkpoints. I assume people would rather see a fluid playthrough, showing only the successful continues, so for that reason I edited out the failed continues and linked it all together.
Unsuccessful continues edited out.
Tip wise, not much to explain as of yet. Fixed fire is very useful. I reccomend mapping it to the B trigger as shown before I started the game. I liked weapon select on the A button, but it does sometimes get hit on accident. The fixed option means that when you hold the fix button it fixes your character in place so that only your gun moves, until you release the fix button. Otherwise the game has a strange setting where you hold the fire button to stay in place and tap the fire button to shoot and move. I reccomend fixing that.
For the stage 3 end boss, keep in mind that you can touch the legs of the boss and shoot him. Youll see me do that during the fight.
