After more than 7 years between parts, Revolution Software, Ltd., released a Kickstarter-funded fifth installment in their iconic point-and-click series, Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse. Returning from 3D to its 2D roots, the game features hand-drawn backgrounds, new puzzles, and a dangerous new adventure for the series' principle two characters: George Stobbart and Nico Collard.
Controls are standard for point-and-click: hover over items (both in your inventory and in the scene around you) and examine (right-click) or interact / manipulate (left-click). Piece clues together, solve challenging puzzles, and discover the story as the mystery is revealed.
Catalonia, Spain, is the scene in 1937 for a pre-war murder and painting theft. The same painting shows up over 75 years later in Paris, France, at an art gallery that the firm George works for is insuring. Also present—to George's surprise—is his only friend and former romantic interest, Nico. Both witness a robbery of one "La Maledicció," a painting full of religious symbolism. In the process, the gallery owner is killed, and George and Nico embark on yet another mysterious adventure. Why is the painting so important? Let's Play Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse and find out.
