Cool Spot is a game that hails from an era where a branded mascot video game wasn't necessarily an immediate warning sign. It definitely was one of the last GOOD mascot-branded games, but if that genre died with Cool Spot then it had a good last hurrah. Cool Spot is a platformer where you play as 7UP's red spot mascot as he navigates levels collecting spots and 7UP soda to become "cool" and save his friends.
This run is of the "All Letters" variety and is played on Easy difficulty. On Easy you only need to obtain 30% of a level's "coolness" to advance, however to reach the bonus levels where the letters are hidden you must achieve at least 75% coolness. Think of the bonus levels like Sonic's special stages; there are six of them to complete and hidden in each stage is a letter that spells out "UNCOLA", 7UP's slogan at the time. (Note that this is NOT a 100% run; a 100% run would require obtaining all the letters and also getting 100% coolness in every stage and every bonus stage.)
We kind of goofed the schedule with this one, though. Initially Cool Spot was added to the schedule as an Any% run, but when we went back and reviewed the content we decided we wanted a few more runs that offered "more" of the games in question, so Cool Spot was bumped up to "All Letters". We did not, however, update its estimated time on the schedule. This wound up taking way longer than planned, and disrupted the following two runs.
