Cosmic Combat Longplay (Commodore Vic-20 Game)
Cosmic Combat Longplay (Commodore Vic-20 Game) -
Cosmic Combat is a Commodore VIC-20 game published by Compute! in 1984. Like most 80s space shooters, your task is to protect Earth from invading aliens, and the game ends when you run out of lives.
The game’s unique feature is that if an alien touches the ground, it doesn’t end; you only lose a life if you’re caught in the shockwave of an enemy spaceship explosion. Naturally, you’ll also lose a life if a spaceship collides directly with you, though they’re generally easy to dodge.
You must eliminate a certain number of enemies to progress to the next level. Each level is the same, with the main differences being the speed and frequency of the alien descent.
PS: Not to be confused with Cosmic Combat for the Commodore 64. While both are space shooters, the gameplay is different.
