Welcome everyone to Exographer!

This is a new game, released in 2024 that's a particle physics inspired meteoidbrainia - this hook alone was intriguing enough for me to want to play it. You know we love meteoidvanias on this channel, and a non-combat puzzle-centric metroidvania? Yep count me in.

Old timers on the channel will know that I used to be a physicist many years ago, so playing a physics inspired puzzle game sounds like a blast, and I hope that I can provide some insightful commentary as we go

This game was developed by an indie team of 6 or so people working for 5 years. The lead designer on the team is themselves a particle physicist working at CERN, so you can't have more real partical physics credentials than that!

I'm looking forward to seeing how they mash up puzzle mechanics with real-world science, let's check it out!

From the Steam Store:
Accompany InI, on a rescue mission in an alien world. Discover the remains of an extinct civilization, and gain new powers to overcome different obstacles. Use your camera to reveal the enigmas of the ancient machines.

Explore more than 20 levels through 6 different atmospheres, and reach inaccessible areas thanks to the powers you learn. Face areas of puzzles and platforms in a non-linear structure.

Exographer has been developed by SciFunGames studio, imagined by science-fiction author and physicist Raphaël Granier De Cassagnac. The puzzle solving in the game is based on the discovery of elementary particles.

The world of Exographer is built through a pixel art aesthetic of incredible detail, which never ceases to amaze. Enjoy the soundtrack composed by Yann van der Cruyssen (Stray).
