A classic arcade shoot 'em up, Cotton in Fantastic Night Dreams was the first title to be launched of this long running series. The game gets it name from its lead protagonist "Cotton", a teenage witch who's embarked on a journey to find a mystical candy called Willow.

The game was developed by the Japanese game developer Success Corporation, and was published by Sega back in 1991. The game ran on Sega's System 16B hardware, and boasted cool 2D visuals for the time.

Players take on the role of Cotton, the teenage witch on a broomstick, in a classic side-scrolling shooter that feels more like an action-adventure platformer.

Players battle it out with a bizarre assortment of characters in a haunted kingdom. Some of the characters you battle against include a creepy looking haunted tree, one-eyed squid looking creatures, and clouds that shoot music notes at you, and even zombies in a graveyard, among others.
