AI models have made big breakthroughs in the last few years, but there’s a risk that they could get dumber and even collapse, according to new research published in Nature. The phenomenon, described as a “model collapse,” is similar to a snake eating its own tail. Take, for example, a bunch of photos of real dogs of different breeds that end up turning into identical weird smudges that kind of resemble golden retrievers.
