Small clip from my Craft the World livestreams showing when I build a wine cellar. As many may have noticed when watching my videos and livestreams, I never feed the dwarves. It is a game mechanic I find useless and wasteful when it comes to time and resources.
However, there is one particular food item that gives very good benefits at a minimal one time cost. Wine barrels produce homemade wine on their own without needing any additional resources and does not require a dwarf to craft them. They also give a comfort bonus to your shelter. Once the progress bar on the barrel is full, it drops homemade wine for any dwarf to come pick it up. Keep wine on your hotbar, refill the table with it, and let your dwarves reap the benefits.
