Crash Team Racing playthrough [Arcade] [Part 4: Crash Cup] ~Finale~
Here's a little playthrough of the arcade mode of Crash Team Racing on the PlayStation.
I never played this one until very recently (I never had a PS1 as a child so I missed a lot of games for it first time around) but picked it up after a few recommendations based on my love of Mario Kart (and to a lesser but still notable extent, some of the Sonic racers).
My only experience with main-series Crash games aside from briefly touching Wrath of Cortex on the Xbox is the first game from the PS1 trilogy which I dislike because I can't get on with using a d-pad in a 3D environment; but Crash Team Racing seems like a fun little racer.
There's a few things that set CTR apart from the Mario Kart dealio I'm used to, such as the Crash Bandicoot aesthetics and the interesting boost-drift mechanic. Items are just as obnoxious here though, possibly more so - the recovery time feels frustratingly long, and if something hits you at the wrong moment it could break the race for you. Some of the later tracks outstay their welcome a bit too.
But hey, it is what it is, and I may or may not end up properly looking at the story mode somewhere down the line - I just felt like racing through the cups to get my conventional mascot racer experience.
