Jane Chen, co-founder of Embrace, will be speaking about design thinking in creating a life-saving product for emerging markets. As an MBA student at Stanford's Graduate School of Business, Chen enrolled in the Entrepreneurial Design for Extreme Affordability course, which teaches students how to look for practical solutions to the problems of the global poor. Her team decided to make an inexpensive incubator. Four years and many design changes later, in April 2011 Chen and three other Stanford alumni cofounders began selling their ThermPod to hospitals in India, aiming to save the lives of the 20 million premature and low-birthweight babies born every year.
