Crimson - Soldier of Knothole TEASER
22Hey, what's up guys. Lil Johnny Red here with a Teaser for the Remake for what was Mobian Warrior.
What this is pretty much a complete remake of the mod cutting out all the trash aspects that myself and others found lacking, keeping what's good, reworking and re-iterating things along with adding a couple of much needed quality of life improvements and some things that i wanted to add before but wasn't really skilled enough to add at the time.
For one, There will be a significant cut to the amount of weapons available "No Crossbow, no Shotvolver, No Grenade Launcher" and Weapons that can be upgraded can only be upgraded once.
However what was kept had some serious re-balancing, re-working or sometimes replacing for something more suitable.
There was also some considerable Sprite Reworks to all the weapons and hand sprites in the game, each weapon has a lot more animation frames as well so they do not look static, including reloading frames.. I know that feature might upset a few people that may find it has no place in a doom mod for that I do apologize but it's how things are now.
I've also re-did all the quoted lines, My lil guy doesn't sound like a violent Alvin Chipmunk reject anymore and the voice is more or less closer to my natural voice "Still pitched up but not to that extreme as I've grown more confident with my voice".. thus there is no longer any reason for me to include a "Silent/Quoteless" version.
The enemy mod is mostly unchanged outside of a couple of re-balancing tweaks "some in dire need of rebalancing" and for the most part I've reduced the frequency of Enemy Units dropping callouts and voice lines when Active/Searching.
As for why there hasn't been any news outside of hearsay in various comments I left on here, well that's because I've kept this mostly quiet outside of a few snippets on twitter along with private discussions with friends. mainly to avoid people getting hyped up earlier in the project when it's in no state to be released and overall putting a lot of pressure on me to release it faster and in a more or less buggy and incomplete state "Mobian Warrior V3 and to an extent Princess of Rebellion suffered greatly because of that requiring several hotfixes"
Speaking of, I will be eventually working to remake Princess of Rebellion but don't expect that within at least 2 years depending on my willingness to work on a project or not.
As for the name change, well the OG name i've grown to hate it, not only because it was rather derivative but because at least two other projects have adopted similar names since then "one of them which belonged to a former friend that I no longer associate with" and had at least once been confused for someone elses project so I made the necessary changes.
The name "Knothole" does not have any lewd connotations or had any intentions of being lewd, however it's a reference to the Home Base/Sanctuary of the Freedom Fighters in the Sonic SATAM/Archie Comic universe "As if i'm not going to reference the blue blur, in a mod that is sorta based on that particular version of canon with creative liberties taken of course".. it's the case of if you know, then you know, if you don't then Look it up "You might like it" and keep your mind out of the gutter.
I will say that I have sent a couple of copies for playtesting purposes to a couple of close friends i do have in the modding community and with appropriate bug testing this should be the most stable release i've had for a mod as a result.
But alas I will ask you to remain patient and don't ask for any definite release dates. It will be out when it's ready and not any sooner.

P.S. Oh and, it doesn't need saying but uhh there will be no "furryless version".. like ever.. for like that one person that might ask... if the whole furry thing puts you off so much that you don't ever want to play the mod well then I urge you to at least try it anyway because who knows you might like it regardless of what the protagonist is.
