This speedrun of Croc on the PS1 by Rpup aims to beat the game as quickly as possible. It does so by exploiting various tricks and glitches, most notably, one which lets Croc hover in the air. Rpup describes the glitch as follow:

"The hover glitch looks like it might be part of the game, however it is an untainted glitch. I think it only works on the PS1 version (forgot to mention this was on PS1 emulator - epsxe). It is performed by pressing Cross,Square,hold Cross or Cross, Circle, hold Cross quickly.

Importantly there are three lengths of hover, long, medium, and short. The slower you press the buttons the longer you will hover for, however there is only a very small window to perform the long hover, which is needed in many cases for any%. I believe to perform the hover there is a window of about 4-5 frames, however for the long hover It is probably around 2 frames. Hovering is faster than running aswell.

This is why I fall in some cases where I have pressed the buttons to do the glitch either too quickly, so the hover is not long enough, or too long and there is no hover at all.

Sorry forgot to mention. There are 2 intentional game over in this run. This is done to replenish the amount of lives needed for the hardest levels, so I wouldn't need to repeated an entire level if I got a game over during it." ~ Rpup

Although there are some mistakes in this run (a few places where hovers could've been done, but are risky, and some general mistakes), this is the current world record. It beats the previous world record by over 3 minutes. Rpup believes that a perfect run using the current knowledge could improve his run by around 4 minutes.
