The Phresh Ninja has played the new release of Cronos: The New Dawn. It is a brand new Horror, Survival, Shooter along the same vein as Dead Space and The Callisto Protocol. The setting is post apocalyptic, dark and moody and resources are scarce. The game features Unreal Engine 5 graphics and technologies. It is a very CPU/GPU intensive game and is best suited for Next-Gen PC and console hardware. The Phresh Ninja has opted to disable Ray Tracing in favor of higher resolution with much better performance. DLSS is enabled and Frame-Generation is turned off. Cronos: The New Dawn is a 2025 survival horror game played from a third-person perspective. It was developed and published by Bloober Team. It was released for Linux, Nintendo Switch 2, macOS, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on 5 September 2025. The game received generally positive reviews from critics for its story, atmospheric setting in Poland, graphics, performances, survival mechanics, sound and monster designs.
Cronos: The New Dawn follows the Traveler, who works as an agent for an enigmatic organization known as the Collective to serve in a mission known as the Vocation. The Traveler must survive the dangers of a future apocalyptic wasteland to find points that allow them to travel back in time to Poland in the 1980s in order extract selected people who did not survive the Change, a cataclysmic event that turned humans into monsters known as "Orphans". The player character, the Traveler, can use both melee abilities and a variety of firearms such as pistols and shotguns to defeat enemies. If defeated enemies are not properly disposed of using fire, a surviving enemy will merge with the undead corpses, creating a hardened, more difficult version of the same enemy.
