► Crusader Kings 3 – Dynasties and Houses – Dev Diary #1 Reaction: Together, we look at the new mechanics that are teased, compare them to Crusader Kings 2, guess the direction the development will take and form an opinion about what is going on in our gem's successor. What is going to be prevalent? Roleplay? Building your Character? Building your family? The title of the Dev Diary together with what we've seen at PDXCON 2019 points to a further roleplay-based choice that will have a deep impact on the gameplay. Trait trees for the House or Dynasty? The coming Houses make the baseline of the new family system. You start a family, you start with one house. When your family gains more power, more ruling persons, the house will get more power, called renown (spendable) and splendor (family prestige) and you will be able to unlock traits your whole family, the dynasty, will inherit. You will even get more houses, and that's when things get really interesting..

House Heads will have great powers to control the whole house of the family, or dynasty, even going as far as changing inheritance laws or declaring or stopping wars. Even more powerful will be the Dynasts of Crusader Kings 3, ruling over the houses and influencing the traits that will shape your future strategy and roleplay. It's a thrilling outlook to what awaits us and a hint why Henrik Fahraeus said Crusader Kings 3 would be DEEPER instead of broader.

Crusader Kings 2 is and Crusader Kings 3 will be a Historical Grand Strategy Game with a lot of Roleplay and roleplaying opportunites for the player. The game has strategic depth in army control and realm management. You impersonate the current ruler of your dynasty and can manage most of his actions as well, giving rise to a multitude of entertaining and fun situations resulting from the good and not so good traits, perks and attributes of your ruler and the other characters in the game world.
