Well, here we are, 1 of the 3 endings of my next Gameplay series of Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason. A game that's been a great example of a small under-budget developing team creating something with quite a few technological flaws, yet has a surprisingly interesting story to make up for them. This game is only available on PC.

Also, major warning: THESE VIDEOS WILL BE QUITE LONG!

Anyway, on to some rather abstract back-story about this game as usual:

It has been one hell of an interesting journey. Alex has basically discovered that the entire ship's crew basically died in a shipwreck back in 1968. The cause of the shipwreck was due to it crashing against an iceberg [Titanic, anyone?], which caused a series of catastrophic events to occur. About a couple of weeks after being dead in the water and some feeble attempts from the ship's crew to repair the damages, the ship's Captain unfortunately receives a lot of flack for his rash decisions and lack of direction. The ship's captain becomes severely discouraged after he finds out he's been decommissioned from his own ship; his entire life gone before his eyes in a split second. After growing weary, the Captain attempts to gain the trust of his crew by attempting to plow through the ice at full speed, regardless of the major risks it might occur. The chief of security, the chief of engineering, and the first officer, being somewhat responsible for the Captain's rash decision, attempt to stop the Captain from further destroying the ship by attempting to bring it at a full halt, but the ship's controls are stuck. The 1st officer, abusing his position of power, threatens the crew to send the ship on full reverse, even though the ship was going too fast. The crew, afraid of being court-martialed, attempts to bring the ship to a halt, at a grave cost of setting the ship's engine on fire, costing several lives, and in the process setting off a massive nuclear reaction. Minutes later, the ship's reactor explodes and kills everyone within immediate range. Anyone else who survived later died due to starvation, hypothermia, dehydration, and radiation poisoning.

After coincidentally 13 years of the ship being dead in the water, and eventually becoming a ghost ship, our protagonist Alexander discovers it, and goes through a series of paranormal events, trials, and challenges proposed by Chronos, the Titan of Time, by the use of a unique ability called "Mental Echo", in order to go back in time through a series of some of the crew member's flashbacks and correct their mistakes in the hope of saving the lives of everyone in the ship, and prevent the set of catastrophic events from happening.

After being successful, and completing Chronos's final challenge of saving ten souls before he kills them all, Alex gets the chance to save one of the three crucial ship members: The 1st Officer, The Chief of Engineering, or The Chief of Security, through the final use of Mental Echo. After correcting their mistakes, Alex then goes back in time to the beginning of the story, where he is sledding with his dogs towards the ship. Instead of being greeted with an empty Ghost Ship and falling through a pit and meeting his fate, he is saved by the Captain of the ship, with the other top members happily waiting alongside him safe and sound. It is important to note that, unlike the beginning of the game, the pit that the protagonist nearly fell through a second time is now full with water.

And so the story, both Danko's and Alex's, end on a happy note, once again defying death through the works of what may be the miracle of one man.
