This is another great game on the Sega Game Gear. It is a mix of role playing and turn based strategy.

You are Princess Iris and your kingdom has been attacked by an evil emperor who captured three of the four elemental gems. You have the fourth gem of the element earth and start out with a few allies. Over the course of the game you can recruit more members to join your party of up to nine characters. All of them are bound to one element and can be upgraded with weapons, armor and magic. The elements work like rock, scissors and paper except earth which is superior to them all. Thus, you need to be careful who to attack with which character.

You also need to take into consideration the features of the battlefield. Enemies follow specific routes to attack you so you need to block certain paths. Also, there are elementals in certain spots of the map. if you beat them, they will join that character and you can send them into battle instead of fighting yourself. They may be weak, but if you get caught by an element you are weak to, it's better to let them die instead of your character.

The gameplay is very balanced and it is never really too hard. Once you understood how the elements work and how strong each enemy type is, it becomes pretty easy. After each round you can save your progress in one of the three save games and upgrade your gear and magic.

graphics are pretty mediocre 8-bit standard, but the characters are cute and the visuals aren't particualrly bad. they servet he purpose and look ok. I don't see it negatively because it emphasizes your goal: check the battlefield and move the characters in a strategic way. the music does the same: it is good, not annoying and doesn't distract you from the main gameplay elements. even the user interface is well designed so from a gameplay perspective, this is a classic that you should absolutely try if you like this genre.
