Sam "Tech Girl" Wright, desk host for numerous esports FPS titles and host of the 'Feed the Trolls' podcast, is the star of the 501st Episode of 'Reflections'. This is part one of three about Tech Girl's career.
Tech Girl is both an influencer and esports broadcast professional. Her "Tech Girl" blog (https://techgirl.co.za/) sees her partnering with numerous famous brands in her native South Africa and she has worked many different big esports over the years around the world.
Back in 2018 Tech Girl could be found hosting the Overwatch Contenders Europe desk for the first three seasons. In Street Fighter she worked Red Bull's "Hit the Streets" event finals for a number of years consecutively.
Around that time she began what has been a successful foray into PUBG, both PC and mobile, and she still works in the game to this year, most recently appearing at the PUBG EMEA Championship Spring. Along the way she has undertaken work in games like Apex Legends, Rainbow Six and even at the odd VALORANT event.
Most significant to Tech Girl's career has been her entrance into Counter-Strike, the game she initially wanted to work in when embarking on her esports career. 2022 was the year she really got cooking and it was an appearance on the Americas RMR for the IEM Rio major that announced her to the CS world.
The following year she had the privilege of desk hosting BLAST Paris, the last ever CS:GO major, and later the same year worked at the prestigious IEM Cologne. 2024 saw her adding IEM Katowice to her ever-expanding resume, hosting desks for BLAST and capping the year off with working the Perfect World Shanghai major.
This year Tech Girl made her PGL debut, working Bucharest and Astana, and she is hosting the Esports World Cup. Outside of events she hosts a number of CS podcasts, from "Feed the Trolls" with me to "B Site Baddies" with fellow talent dona.
In part one, Tech Girl talks about how she got into gaming through her family, making it from South African esports to the international space, working in numerous different titles over the years and her style of presenting herself on camera.
This interview was recorded on the 13th of August, 2025.
