There are plenty of Mario related addons I could have used here... but I chose not to use them to prove a point...

A map that is not only pretty boring... but the shining of example of why nostalgia can't fix everything...

+Has some nice things to emphasize its Marioness

-Horribly linear and boring level design...
-Bad navigation...
-Next to no detail...
-Lazy design choices...
-Doesn't even have a consistent Mario theme...

This right here... this is why I have always preached that you can't rely on a theme to make your map good... I know I ragged on Deathcraft for this... but at least that campaign was not only consistent with it's theme, but it was a still well made campaign... so it is only air that tear into this map like I did with deathcraft...

First and for most... there were some cool callbacks to the old Mario francise... the very beginning... some of the custom assets... the '?' boxes... those were cool... I will admit this...

Not that the good things are done with...
The level design is horribly linear... and I am not talking about not branching paths or openness... I mean levels that are literal straight lines... with a couple bends here and there... Little to no effort to make the level interesting... just a simple textures across square hallways... and to make things worse, the theme isn't even consistent... The whole generator room is a prime example... Could you not have have a turtle shell on a hamster wheel or something if you really needed a generator?... No, instead you use actually props... make this horrible awkward looking area... Navigation is laughably bad in many areas...

If you were to replace all the textures with dev textures... you essential have a hallway with a couple bends... without the charm of old-school mario influence... this map has NO LEGS to stand on...
No foundation what-so-ever... but hey... apparent it is really good.. because the users at L4Dmaps think this is currently "8.9" out of 10 worthy... Look, this is why you can't trust people when it comes to ratings... Especially if it has a borrowed Theme...
