If you don't follow these missions as shown you won't be able to get the "Doom Doom" pistol. In this video, I'll show you the sequence you need to input to remove and neutralize the virus in the chip in the mission "The Pickup" in Cyberpunk 2077. This way, you won't need to shoot Royce and the remaining Maelstromers in the room.

The Second Conflict quest that will follow this one, later on, will give you a chance to loot Dum Dum and obtain his pistol Doom Doom. If Dum Dum is killed in that mission, you won't be able to obtain this weapon in Cyberpunk 2077. This is why you want to finish this mission without Dum Dum being killed.
