Cyberpunk 2077 reviews ABSOLUTELY CAN discuss Trans Representation
15Cyberpunk 2077 reviews broke a few weeks ago, but the "discourse" around it involves the same handful of topics that appear with almost every new release. In this case, there's been a sizable backlash to conversations about representation in video game reviews, and because this outrage keeps cropping up, I wanted to throw my weight behind its defense.
This ISN'T a review of Cyberpunk 2077; this isn't even my own opinion on the trans representation in the game. I might buy the game when it's finally fixed and complete on consoles. For now, I wanted to talk about the way we talk about video games: 1) understanding how representation actually does affect the mechanics, and 2) accepting the perspectives of others, not as attacks on our own opinion but as respect for the myriad reasons people enjoy the media they enjoy.
