D2 Part 0 - Intro
Intro Sequence of D2. This is found on disc 4 of D2. I am playing the US version.
Output via a VGA cable into an OSSC line 2x mode.
I'm still experimenting with the best way to output and record my Dreamcast. This playthrough will serve as a set of tests to optimise settings. My old RetroBit VGA box seems to be generating a noisy picture with vertical jail bars. I'm not sure what the PCB and chips on the VGA box do, but if I were to hazard a guess, its frequency filtering to remove noise. Degraded components like capacitors would therefore account for the retrobit's poor output. I've purchased a generic cable with no box. I know they get bad reviews, but I figure the OSSC has built in filtering. It turned out worse on the recording than on my monitor. I was outputting line 2x mode and recording at 960p using a downloaded OSSC profile optimised for the Toro, and I didn't notice that the image was partially cut off on the left hand side on the recording as it was fine on my monitor.
The standalone cable works great through the OSSC on my old TV, a bit worse on my 4k monitor though using the smooth upscale mode helps a bit. Plugging the standalone cable directly into the VGA port on the old TV on the other hand results in an amazing picture.
in this Video, an intro FMV we see the intro video to D2. A Man bleeds in the snow, Laura spills coffee, junkies hijack a plane, and they all get hit by a meteor.
