Some current pipe acquisitions...
I have a Dagner corncob, which I have enjoyed for years, and it was about time to return to Dagner. I have to say this little Rusticated Devil Anse pipe is the "perfect" pocket size, any pocket, tossed in a pipe sock with extra tobacky and tamper(golf tee) for the days travel. Joined with a Dagner Smooth CWA which is near perfect to Costner's Anse to me. although I don't usually mention pipe smoking here, which I been doing on and off since at least the early 70's?.. I just had to mention.. They smoke like a dream... Nice designs Jayson! 3-2023, Shotglass Poker added! sweet!

Give Jayson Dagner a try..

Ramblings on pipes:
A Dr. Grabow pipe fan from way back, some of the oldest pipes I own. good briar pipes priced fairly and cheaply, while smoking wonderfully. Although I don't get their leaf stamp over errors on their pipes.. try to avoid those or get a great deal on price.

Sitting around a computer, beside my larger pipes, in 2023, joined by a Dagner Shot Glass poker, No stand needed.

I missed the 2021 Peterson Pipe Of The Year 4AB remake! That to me, is the Rathbone/Holmes pipe, well, if not actually a 309, and you ignore the dunhill in the first two higher quality period movies, before Holmes jumps about 40 years into the future. but anyways...

I like the Peterson Irish Made Army pipes. But Pete's "system" mounts? dryer smoke? sometimes for the first bowl at least, more clean up hassle after. they are some of the dirtiest pipes on the market. Crooked stems seem normal on "system" pipes these days. Boils down to personal preference and aesthetics I guess. Size wise, I like the smaller zulu's, IMA apple, author types for carrying out. if prices stay less than $100usd, pete's IMA pipes are good. The Grabow of Ireland.

Savinelli pipes? got spigots, punto oro etc. but, Q.C. issues happen in any brand. A leaking tenon on a churchwarden, an extra hot bowl on a punto oro. roll the dice. Get Rossi on the cheap!

Like the Devil Anse, fan of Cutty and Belge small bowl forward cants... Slim Churchwardens with spur added to bottom, always a plus, hello ROPP pipes! A few clay on the shelves as well..

Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) not only makes good Tobacco(old Dunhill, Peterson etc.), They been making Stanwell "Danish design" pipes for some years now, albeit in Italy for years. as good or better quality pipe than any other manufactured pipe in my opinion. with a decent price point, and usually found on sale. Their Stanwell Pipe of the Year 2022 has become 'my' perfect pipe shape and size, "for now". Wish they made it more readily available.

Estate Pipes: Any pipe over $300 is "usually" out. most times I will grab a cheaper alternative and stay content till P.A.D. passes. So for dunhill etc., estate pipes fill that area nicely. Pipes sanitize and clean up easily, lasting for generations. Some kosher salt, vodka, oxi-clean and you're set. fine micro pads and hobby buffers are cheap!

Tobacco talk:
I like old codger brands, burley based, like Prince Albert and Carter Hall for an anytime quick fix. other burley: Haunted Bookshop, Crooner, Solani 656. Latakia's: Peterson Early morning, Nightcap, Old Dublin, Balkan Mixture, G.L. Pease Quiet Nights, Kramer's Father Dempsey, Arango Balkan to name a few. Virginia's? I enjoy an Aromatic Wilke's 515, A blend of Virginias and black cavendish with some Rum topping, a Basil Rathbone's blend. Speaking of Ole' Basil, Peterson Sherlock Holmes is an odd blend I like, straight Virginia on the tin, I get topping of apricot and faint anise. Peterson Royal Yacht for those sipping moments. If I can't make a choice between Burley and Virginia and want a good nicotine hit, I grab Peterson Irish Flake. VaPer's: Elizabethan Mixture, G.L. Pease Stratford, Telegraph Hill, SPC Virginia Jazz, Match Victorian, all with that addicting taste of Perique. I've enjoyed many blends, these are but a few still found easily in todays market. I'm still a grown kid in a candy store exploring.

A pipe tobacco and a good chilled Yuengling Lager or nice bourbon / rye whiskey, talk about the daily stress and pain relief!

I don't inhale. must be a good thing right? I gave up cigs about 18 years ago and vaped since.. now I gave up vaping and occasionally, the pipe is just something I have always done thru-out my lifetime for relaxation and memories, sometimes just held empty. It also makes Coffee taste better, depending on blend.. Watson, the needle! ;-)

Influences? In Life: I enjoyed sitting next to my Grandfather as he would choose a pipe and tobacco from his collection. In Movies: Basil Rathbone playing Sherlock Holmes, although Jeremey Brett is the better correct time period Sherlock. Bing Crosby's long pipes, Crooner blend being a "match" of one of his favorites they say.

Disclaimer: Nicotine is addicting. If you don't smoke.. don't start.
