Dozens of Ukrainian soldiers completed a a four-week training program organised by the Spanish army in Zaragoza on how to use and repair Leopard 2A4 battle tank, as seen in footage filmed on Monday Soldiers could be seen operating Leopard tanks and receiving instruction from members of the Spanish army, who were also part of the training drill.
“They all have knowledge of tanks, and that has helped us so that they acquire all the training that we have given them, and that they go back to Ukraine with a very important knowledge of the Leopard 2 A4 tank," Spanish Army Captain Contreras stated.
According to local media, 55 Ukrainian soldiers have been part of the training period, which started on February 13. Spain is reportedly sending six of its Leopard 2s to Ukraine this spring. NATO countries have pledged a total of 48 of the tanks so far, with supplies also coming from Germany, Poland, and Portugal, among others.
Moscow has accused the Western nations of escalating the conflict by “pumping” Ukraine with assorted weaponry, saying that the deliveries would only prolong the fighting and wouldn’t change the outcome.
