Dan McCafferty has died
The lead vocalist of the hard rock group Nazareth, Dan McCafferty, who was best known for the 1970s singles "Love Hurts" and "Hair of the Dog," passed away on Tuesday at the age of 76. Although he had retired from the organisation in 2013 after 45 years of service owing to chronic obstructive lung disease, no exact cause of death was disclosed.
Pete Agnew, the bassist for the group, shared a social media message confirming McCafferty's passing. “Dan died at 12:40 today,” he wrote on the band’s Instagram account Tuesday. “This is the saddest announcement I ever had to make. Maryann and the family have lost a wonderful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Too upset to say anything more at this time.”
