D&D Adventures Episode 2 - On The Road
5Recap of session 1: Longhaul
Laydehn walks across the street to the pub, and meets Thago at the golden oak. James is outside shopping among the markets, and spots a strange shopkeeper who said he’s “too late for the good stuff.” and, “maybe he’ll be on time in the future.”
Olaf walks into the pub, grabs a drink, and takes a seat with Thago and Laydehn. Eventually, commotion occurs, Sons of Kelm bandits ride up to the church, halo that summons the Potentate powers down. Reginald is seen leaping onto a horse with the bandits, while the others and a wolf threaten Lychan. Laydehn shoots the net in an attempt to kill Lychan, breaks the net, and injures the druid. Almost died. Olaf sprints out into combat, gets surrounded. Slices one guy in half, dragged to the ground by a wolf. James runs up with a monstrous Thunderwave and smashes one wolf and another bandit. One runs.
Elder Omar accuses the head of the local Yannis Chapter, Romane, of providing the opportunity to the Sons of Kelm and threatening the village. She states to search Reginald’s house. The party does, and finds a letter stating the date, “30th Sylvanus, ET.” Through a history check,
realized it was Erron Tychus, leader of the Sons. Party decides not to reveal the ties, stating they found nothing. The Elder’s guards drag Romane to a rope, hanging over a platform. Her head is put in the noose as the party watches silently. Eventually, Laydehn attempts to shoot
the rope, but misses, and the platform drops. Romane dies.
Elder gives 40 gold to the party and promises 20gp a scalp for whatever they bring back. 120 gold total reward. Laydehn finds the tracks, and leads the party to Longfellow Caves. Attempts a stealth check, fails, and falls out of a tree. Attacked. Laydehn ends up hurt, and is healed by Thago. Continue inside, walk by a small corridor to the back room. Distract 3 guards and coax them outside, jumps them. On an investigation, James finds a small purple orb, has visions of the tunneling upwards, and begins to seize. Eventually helped. Hear rumbling, they run for the exit. Find Reginald in the exit. Begins screaming at Lychus for betraying his village, and his homeland in serving the Potentate, and, in extension, Eterni. Ankheg bursts upwards, and grabs Reginald. Drags him down.
Thago, with the highest AC, jumps on the ground and begins stomping to drag the attention of the Ankheg, it bursts out, and he jumps out of the way. Combat ensues, and the creature proves deadly. In a last attempt, Ankheg grabs James, and nearly kills him. Thago, with his final connection to the light, uses his last lay on hands to revive James from the dead. The party walks from the cave, Laydehn with the Ankeg’s Liver, Thago with the Holy Ring, and James with the Orb. Lychus returns to find his church burned by his very perish while he was away, leaving him nothing. He gifts Olaf a robe of deep green and gold for assisting him earlier, and tells the party to travel to Skivale. The party readies to adventure forth.
