If there's any aspect of Dungeons & Dragons that has been as widely analyzed and argued about as the Alignment system, I don't know it (although AC vs THAC0 comes a close second). It has remained surprisingly rigid in its structure for the majority of editions and it has served as a quick and easy reference for how NPCs, and players, may act in certain situations.
Yet it is of course an endeavour fraught with complexity to try to boil morality down to such arbitrary distinctions, and Planescape if nothing else was an attempt to really and truly discuss these topics in a more mature way.
In this video we will learn about the different exemplars of these polar opposites; from the Chaotic Slaad to the Structured Modrons, the devilish Baatezu to the angelic Devas, and their complex relationship, as well as how morality differs between Outsiders and "Primers". We will cover very briefly the Blood War, and even discuss Faith on the Planes and how it may differ from how the Clueless see it. The Morality of the Planes of D&D is a fantastic topic to delve in to and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.
