Danmakufu: Shipwreck Showdown (by TTBD) || Perfect Lunatic Clear
Alright, let's showdown! For the next few days I'm gonna show you some of Bullet Hell Artistry #2 Contest Scripts! Today, let's play TTBD's entry, which might be my favourite of them all. Amazing pace, concise and great design, and the challenge it imposes - truly awesome work.
----------
Bullet Hell Artistry #2: Unlikely Allies, is a contest maintained at Bullet Hell Engines - a Discord server gathering all kind of Bullet Hell fan-scripts makers.
This time, the theme was suggested and choosed by BHE community. The theme of this contest was proposed by Naudiz.
The goal is to create pairs of boss characters that are not related in the plot, but have similar features. An examples would be:
- "Miracle Workers" Sanae & Shinmyoumaru
- "Bird Brains" Kutaka & Aya
- "I fucking hate the moon" Junko & Mokou
- "Moo" Urumi & Keine

[ ABOUT SCRIPT ]
Shipwreck Showdown is a script made in Danmakufu ph3sx (a highly modified version of ph3). It focuses on two bosses - Komachi Onozuka and Minamitsu Murasa. Script itself is very high-paced, modelled as an arcade-ish game than anything else. Which is good. We need more scripts like this.
Has two difficulties - Normal and Lunatic - and four playable characters. What should be noted, is that they are configurable, that is you can modify which shot type gets shot when focused/unfocused.
[ SCORING ]
What is more interesting, is the scoring system.
During gameplay, a score multiplier is visible on the bottom left (starting at x1.00). This multiplier can be increased by grazing bullets (+0.01 per bullet grazed, though some may have different values), up to a maximum of x15.00.
When a bullet is grazed, it starts a countdown timer (shown by the gauge below the multiplier). Once this timer hits 0, the multiplier slowly starts to drop down to x1.00 until the timer goes above 0 again.
The timer will not decrease if any of the following are true:
- The player is invincible
- The player cannot fire bullets
If the player loses a life, the multiplier is immediately set back to 0. Bullets can also be "re-grazed" every 0.5 seconds, allowing the player to keep the multiplier going.
Spell bonuses work a bit differently than they do in the original Touhou games. Instead, whenever you get hit the spell bonus is divided by 2, rather than going straight to 0. This means that the only way to lose a spell bonus is by timing the spell out (unless it's a survival spell, of course). Spell bonuses are not affected by the score multiplier, either.
