INTRODUCTION:
Life does not forgive weakness. Dan will have to pay for all his unpunished acts. Dantemonium will be his place of reception as punishment. These are the words of the high priest of the German Catholic Church. Dan will face all kinds of physical and mental torture. The only option to get out alive is to escape from the Dantemonium Cathedral, where all kinds of monstrosities and despicable beings are housed who have also paid for their actions in the past, and have been locked up to unleash their heinous murderous instincts. Can Dan regain his identity and find out what happened to him? Why has he been locked up in a German Church called Dantemonium?

REVIEW:
Dan is now in a German Church called Dantemonium, and why is that..?? Hard to say as the game does not give the answer, but reading the intro for Danterrifik I:

"Our protagonist Dan Terkai, incomprehensibly wakes up being buried in an old cemetery. He manages to surface, and looks at himself surprised seeing how his body is turned into a bag of bones, it is a filthy skeleton.

He realizes that his name is inscribed on the stone with a message written in blood: You are destined to know what has happened to you, you only have one option if you want to recover your SOUL, your BODY and your IDENTITY. You will have to face your great fear: Hell. You will descend to purgatory until you reach it. There you will have the answer to your death."

...and Danterrifik II:

"After a hellish first part in which our protagonist wakes up, turned into a skeleton in a dark cemetery, he discovers that he has to make his way through hell itself to recover his soul, body and identity.

After a tortuous path, he manages to leave purgatory behind and finally he achieves his soul.

In this second infernal installment, Dan confronts himself, lost in the labyrinth of his mind he will fight to survive between dangers and his twisted madness.

Your brain has not supported it anymore and it will guide you through those paths of hell occupied by its satanic dangers plus the surreal hallucinations of our protagonist, and that is, Dan's greatest fear is Hell and others that you will have to discover ..."

...tells us that we are controlling what is far from a standard character with a normal storyline.

The gameplay has been changed in this game. In the first two games you had to collect two items on each screen, and if you died when going for the second item, you had to start all over again going for the first item. In this game you just have to get past the screens without collecting anything.

It is still a tough series, but compared to the first two games this one is more playable. The first screens are not so tough and the difficulty is increasing as you proceed, though some of the last levels are insanely difficult and without save states only very skilled gamers will be able to get through these and complete this game.

So far this is the most detailed game in the series with a lot of textured and detailed backgrounds. Everything is kept in black / white / red colors (basic + bright = 5 colors) to set a dark atmosphere and the sprites are very detailed and looking great - Which enemies are real and which ones are only in Dan's twisted mind ??

Javier Parra "MR. RANCIO" has really done a fine job making the soundtracks. It is not easy to make music for a horror game, but both the menu and the in game soundtrack are excellent.

This series is getting in the right direction, looking great and being more playable for everybody and not only pro players. You start with 100 lives but you lose 2 each time you die (maybe both Dan and one of his split personalities are losing a life when dying) so you only have 50 lives to complete the game.
