In this episode Fisk reveals his imprisonment of Adam to Vanessa and gives her the option to free him. She chooses to kill Adam to affirm her affection for Fisk. He then promotes Blake to Deputy Mayor for Communications for his role in the AVTF's public success. Murdock's relationship with Glenn is strained as she expresses her anti-vigilante stance and finds out Fisk is her client after they receive an invitation to the Inaugural Black and White Ball for the ports.
At the law office, McDuffie reveals Dex aka Bullseye has been moved to gen pop by Fisk and has requested a meeting with him. While visiting Josie's, Murdock discovers Nelson was celebrating an impending win in his case the night he died. Murdock interrogates Dex and believes Fisk hired him to kill Nelson. While being treated from injuries Murdock inflicted, Dex kills the doctor and guard before escaping. At the ball, Fisk blackmails Duquesne and attempts to get other socialites to donate to the port project.
BB interviews Gallo about the AVTF and reveals she's covering Fisk's actions closely due to his connection to her uncle's death. Murdock realizes that Vanessa ordered the hit on Nelson and confronts her. Before Fisk reveals Murdock's secret to Glenn, Dex attempts to shoot him, but Murdock jumps in front of the bullet and is critically wounded.
