The sequel to Darius, it is once again a shooter on multiple screens. The game's more commonly represented as a two-screen game, though there's also a three-screen version like with Darius I, played in this video.
Of course, there's a new power-up system where weapons upgrade immediately after collecting their respective colored orb. In addition, new special weapons have been added. When the player dies, all weapons reset back to their initial state. The Arm keeps its tier system from the first game.
Darius II ditches the forked paths after boss fights from Darius in a favor of a zone-selection screen, where the player can choose their next zone through a zone map and play through the next zones like normal.
