For those wanting to get to the new DLC area of Dark Souls 2, Crown of the Sunken King.

1. Go to Black Gulch, either bonfire is fine.
2. Go to the The Rotten boss room.
3. Defeat him if he has not yet been beaten.
4. Go to the back of his room and exit via the small tunnel.
5. Behind the bonfire is a shrine, use the altar.
6. In the new area, proceed to the other side of the room and open the door.

Dark Souls 2 DLC:
-The first is Crown of the Sunken King (July 22nd)
-The second is Crown of the Old Iron King (August 26th)
-The third is Crown of the Ivory King (September 24th)
