I know a lot of people who see using the Dragonslayer's Axe at low level as tryharding, for me it isn't. To me such weapons are for trying to make a fight as quick as possible with minimal effort and imo should be used sparingly if you want to have interesting fights. Not to mention that against more skilled opponents such weapons will struggle to land a hit making them only good for opponents who are easier to punish.

At low level proper tryharding isn't much different than what it is at high level except you do notably less damage so fights take longer and the weapon selection is a bit different. This is because at the end of the day what's most effective is a weapon that can hit a lot more frequently than one that just does a lot of damage regardless of level. Sure Exile Greatsword can do 400+ damage in a single swing and Rotten Ghru Curved Sword will take 3-4 hits to do about the same but one is going to hit a lot more frequently than the other.
