Sorry about the Poor editing, haven't made a video in a while. :P (excuses are good)

I posted this on a reddit forum, might bring my points slightly more together: "I believe they are almost certainly the same areas. One of the 3 sealers in dark souls 1 attempted to go and heal blighttown of its curse, but we found her stuff in there, and so assumed she had failed and subsequently died. I would suggest that the cleansing she tried did work, but it took a while, as the place was extremely corrupted. Not only that, if you consider the tree roots growing over and into the shrine, it would have to be created by some incredibly large trees, As in the Ash Trees located in Ash lake, which is right next to blight town. If you consider the setup of the area as well, the room for the Demon of song is located right at the end of the zone. Whats MORE the lift from amana to undead crypt has very similar symbols to that of the elevators located above blight town in new
londo and darkroot basin. Granted I'm not saying these are the same elevators, but the architecture of both are very similar for elevators fairly close. This last point is a little bit of a stretch but it still makes some sense. I know that the areas don't look 100% the same, but you expect the area to change over the MANY years between 1 and 2. Also there has to be some change for the mechanics of the game. But what with the water in this area and the previously mentioned points, I'm certain of it being the same area. As a little side note, its very possible that they hinted in creating this zone. What was the generic zone that people hated in DS1. Blight town. What was the generic zone that people hated in DS2. Shrine. Funny that :L"
