Darth Vader moonlights as Sabbala's executioner in The People That Time Forgot movie
In the same year Star Wars: A New Hope was unveiled to cinema audiences, bodybuilder, Dave Prowse, also took on a small non-speaking role in Edgar Rice Burroughs' The People That Time Forgot as the Naga emperor's masked, sword-wielding executioner. The Naga are a race of deformed cavemen in samurai outfits led by Indian wrestler and actor, Milton Reid (aka The Mighty Chang) should you be curious.
After occupying the lead role in The Land That Time Forgot, Doug McClure was relegated to playing a bit-part in the sequel, with John Wayne's son, Patrick, stepping up to become the starring hero tasked with rescuing Bowen Tyler and Lisa Clayton.
While it's interesting to see Mr Vader sans helmet and cape for a change, using his sword, blunt edge towards the sacrificial victim does detract a teensy-weensy bit from the dramatic tension and believability. How did the fight choreographer (or anyone else) not notice that?
Also, note that he's ultimately defeated by a wall rug.
One of the women in peril is Sarah Douglas, better known as Kryptonian supervillain, Ursa, in Superman I and II. Singer, songwriter and actress, Dana Gillespie, is the other.
