Sometime in the far future. a scientist discovers the inevitable collapse of a galactic human empire and devises a way to reduce the ensuing 30.000 year Dark Ages to a millennium of horror and despair. Another built in aspect is the way how episodes can focus more on a theme. such as Cleon XIs final day in Season 1 or. as Goyer teased. some episodes in the upcoming season.When we initially did that. everyone was very nervous because we liked the format broke so badly. but then they got excited and said. Oh. can we do more of this in Season 2? he said. And after exploring alternate realities and multiverses in 21st century science fiction media. At the beginning of the twentieth century. a return to exploring the powers of the mind offers itself to open up interesting storytelling possibilities. There are many things in our minds that we dont understand to this day. Goyer said. We dont understand the seat of consciousness. we dont understand where the self exists. we dont even fully understand why we dream.
