Daxter - Tanker 1 Minigame Skip (comparison)
3Back in 2021, Rane found a way to skip the 2-minute minigame required to exit Tanker 1 ( • Tanker 1 Puzzle Skip ). The problem is, it takes place in the reset path that only opens if you get to the end of the level without completing the mission to collect 30 gems. So at the time, we only thought of rushing through the level as fast as possible, then return in post-game to collect the orbs and gems. The skip itself was timed around 1:20, and running through the level would take a few minutes even without collectibles, and so the skip was shelved.
Recently, while I was preparing for my upcoming 101% run at ESA, I decided to revisit this idea and came up with a better route: we can get out of bounds in the first area of the level and quickly get to the engine room, skipping the whole first half. While this wouldn't be enough to make the previous plan work out, we can instead collect every orb and gem from that point onward, and still get to the end with fewer than 30 gems. As a result, on the revisit, we no longer need to traverse the entire level, only the first half we completely skipped previously, where we can save another minute using the flame and ultrasonic attachments.
