Daytona Championship USA (2017) - Seaside Street Galaxy: Controls FULLY working on PC
Unless you've been living under a rock for the last couple of weeks you've probably heard all about how Sega accidentally, or just through sheer complacency, released the full version of their 2017 arcade title Daytona Championship USA on to the internet. This left it ripe for a group of talented coders at the BYOAC (and other) gaming forums to get it fully working in increments over a relatively short period. If not and you haven't got a Scooby Doo what I'm talking about see my 1st video on the subject here https://youtu.be/u1xXg9fj0x8 (although I've pretty much explained the whole thing now anyway).
We are now at a point the game is fully playable using my Logitech DFGT wheel and also supports working force feedback for it. Amazing. It's also possible to get the game working in a network now, although personally I haven't bothered trying because my older dual core PC can't handle the game full speed and the graphics are all fucked up anyway.
Now, I've always been a bit shit at the Expert course in Daytona, so this is actually one of my better runs. I do manage to bollocks things up slightly on the second to last tight corner though, drifting too wide and coming off the track, dropping from 7th to 9th and then not managing to make the difference back up. The original game defaulted to 2 laps on this level, which is doable for me for a 1st place: https://youtu.be/z-QBDLiCtsE - whereas this version only has the one for some strange reason. It is doable to get a first in just one lap, but that's currently beyond my skill level. It is possible though, I've seen a video of a Spanish friend do it (arcade racing God-tier player @MaskedNinjaYT) using an automatic transmission car!
On the plus side though, I've finally figured out how to do the rocket start in this! In the past I knew what you were supposed to do, but I couldn't ever seem to pull if off (oo-er missus!). Also the reduced number of laps on the Advanced stage didn't prevent me from getting a 1st place https://youtu.be/g0wzl_gpm1Y or on it's mirrored re-skin 'Lakeside Castle' https://youtu.be/GXrEWzYeCC8 Looks like I need to put some practice in on the Expert level....
