A split screen comparison between Daytona USA running on the PS3 and the actual arcade ROM being emulated in Model 2 Emulator. I can't video capture my PS3 in HD unfortunately, so there is a slight loss in detail and added fuzziness, compared to M2 Emu which has been upscaled into HD, but when both videos have been shrunk a bit to both fit on screen I don't think it's quite so apparent. But, yeah, normally the PS3 version looks just as crisp and nicely anti-aliased as M2 upscaled.

Apart from a few minor HUD positioning changes there isn't a huge amount of difference graphically as far as I can see, although the scenery pop-up in M2 emulator is totally absent in the PS3 version which is cool. The PS3 version had the option for easy to set-up online play (I say had, because I'm not even sure if the servers are still working - I haven't tried playing online for ages. The amount of people online gradually petered out ages to the point I couldn't find anyone to play against). M2 Emu has the option for online play, but it requires a bit more PC knowledge to set-up.

I haven't ever tried to set-up an online match on PC, but one aspect in which the M2 version trumps the PS3 version is it's ability to support LAN and single system multi-player which I have set-up:

2 players across a LAN is great fun and fully playable, apart from a few issues with slightly flickery AI cars. It's a real shame that Sega didn't include any sort of split-screen multi-player option in the home console versions. I've always thought multi-player with actual real people in the same rooms as you is way more enjoyable than online play. Plus, I'm far less likely to get my ass handed to me by my friends than the expert players online...

These are both played using a Logitech Driving Force GT. I have left all the default force feedback settings unchanged in both and it's noticeably stronger in the PS3 version (If you crank the FFB up to maximum in the PS3 version it's helluva' strong - feels like it could take an arm off).

All-in-all, these are both great.
