In the end, I was unable to be at the service organized by EvilViking (http://www.youtube.com/EvilViking13). Due to the huge player response, the server was changed a couple of times (I got in both times, but they crashed), the ceremony was held in Cherno (not Elektro), and the final server ultimately had to be passworded. This video begins about half an hour after EvilViking declared the event to be over via Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and the DayZ Forums.

I saw a couple of live-streams of the event: when the violence broke, it was pure madness. A helicopter crashed onto one side of the church, grenades, bullets, fire, smoke and people dying everywhere. But hey, this is DayZ. Could not have been any other way.

I got to see the church and hang out with some players that, like me, wanted to see the carnage. Ultimately I died, but I don't mind, I knew I was going to.

I'm really looking forward to the next event.
