Playthrough of Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 part 14 for the Wii. We are headed to the Ultimate Battle section of the game starting with the Sim Dragon Mode. In this mode the game utilizes game mechanics in a way to dating simulator games, taking the dating away but does keep the RNG factor of such titles. In this case training can either help you actually gain stats on completely mess you up and thats pre determimed by a RNG factor and just like things of the like this mode can be completely cheesed in a emulator with savestate abuse but obviously theres no fun in that so i tackle it in the legit fashion just like i always do.
Theres seven fights in total and you have 10 days until each fight so this mode has 70 days total. Your 1st,3th,5th and final fights will be against Imperfect Cell, Semi Perfect Cell, Perfect Form Cell and Perfect/Super Perfect Cell and your 2nd,4th and 6th battles will be random so you will know your opponent at least for 4 cycles.
Each action you do either training, exploring, resting or using a senzu bean will pass a day with the only exception is if you find Elder Kai in explore and undergo his training in which doing so a random amount of days will pass.
The senzu command once used cannot be used again for about 50 days so the best strategy to optimize senzu cycles is to used it on day 9 and try to train and hope RNG is at your side and then use it again on the final day before Super Perfect Cell.
Resting only recovers a % of your health based on your current HP so the less hp you have the less you will recover. Make sure you never fall below 67% hp if you want to fully recover per resting day.
In explore you can find Potaras randonly and up to 3 at a time can be equipped. You will only ever find Yellow potaras to equip and the find ratio is determined by the yellow ones you currently have and depending if the character is Good or Evil so for example, the Potara Confidence will never go to a good character. I forgot about this part when i recorded and one advise i can give you when starting the game is to do Sim Dragon first and buy potaras you can fully take advantage off such as Sparkling Plus, King Kai Training, Light Body, secret measures to name a few.
After the battle the score you make will determine your ranking and to get a Z ranking you have to score above 280000 points. You can get up to 100000 points by in each category of the Remaining Health, Maximum Combo count and maximum damage deal and for each to max out is as follows:
Remaining Health: this one is the most difficulty one but finishing with 100% will max this score.
Maximum Combo Count: Get 20 or more hits in a single combo. Easily done with a character that has Violent Rush on its max power mode.
Maximum Damage Dealt: you have to deal 20000 damage in a single combo to max the score on this one. Violent Rush into a Ultimate Blast will get the job done.
During Sim dragon you will encounter Bulma in explore and for a few points she will unlock one extra page in the 100 battle mode. Once you have all 20 pages available giving her points is a easy way to get potaras. It takes at least 2 Sim Dragon runs to max out the 100 Battle mode so i off screen the second run to get it done.
Sim Dragon only allows you to start with a character in their base form but you can still transform during battle. The trick to make Sim Dragon easier is to select a character that is already very powerful from the get go. In my case i use Syn Shenron as in this run i attempt to always get the maximum ranking in battles if i can. Giants like Hirudegarn and Base form Janemba can also completely cheese this mode but you will not score as high duo to their limited combo potential but they will win very easily too.
RNG was not on my side on both training and potara choices that i got( and forgot about how they work in here) so i coundnt get a Z ranking in every fght as otherwise i would attempt a all Z ranking run but this mode is sooooo RNG esque and the CPU not making it easier can be tough to pull off as a higher score means more level ups after the fights besides getting lucky and finding Elder Kai and not wasting days in the process is not something you can rely upon.
