DCS F-15E Strike Eagle • Operation Inherent Resolve Part 1
Another great mission from Sedlo in colaboration with 10 Percent True. I already covered several missions from @sedlo on my channel - for the Viper and the Bug - I really recommend checking out the Bold Cheetah Campaign, it's really good and it's free.
I was eager to see what Sedlo has cooked up this time and I wasn't dissapointed. I like his approach to using radio comms, it feels really immersive.
This must be the longest mission I flew in DCS. Reminds me of those long hauls in Jane's F-15. I sliced it into 2 parts and left everything in without any cuts. The mission is dynamic and have several events that may or may not appear during your playthrough which makes it replayable. First part doesn't have any shooting and features cold start, flight enroute to tanker and my poor attempt at AAR which I clearly suck at currently, though this was my 2nd overall attempt in the Mudhen. Leave any good tips in the comments ;)
Razbam's F-15 is still in early access and I have encountered 2 bugs in my playthrough - both during cold start - one was the weird pilot's body glitch as seen from WSO seat. I suspect it can happen at specific pilot body position, when you switch seats your pilot/WSO will remain at the position corresponding to your point-of-view at the time of the switch, so if you look back over your shoulder and switch to WSO you will see the pilot looking back. This is in contrast with the Heatblur's Tomcat in which the other crew memeber is animated when controlled by AI. Maybe that's it - Razbam doesn't implemented AI controlled pilot/WSO, you need to perform all tasks by yourself - it's doable but you can always find a DCS friend and fly as one crew. Anyway... the second bug was the INS freaking out after I started rolling - hdg for next steerpoint displayed clearly erronous value. Maybe it was because I flipped the parking brake switch just after starting INS align process, which brings me to another issue - you need to enable the parking brake currently for INS to align properly, which AFAIK is not how this works in RL (even official manual doesn't list this step). Yes, the jet need to remain stationary during the alignment (even vibrations from starting engine may hamper the process - make sure the engines are stabilized), but there is no interconnection between the parking brake switch and alignment process, maybe it's just a simplification in the code at the moment.
