I've decided to do a fresh Bitterblack Isle run from scratch. New Arisen, no pawn, no outside help whatsoever. This won't be easy, and you can expect to pretty much die left and right.

Tip: Don't be discouraged if things don't go your way. If you feel a foe is beyond your means, there's no shame in fleeing.

Another tip: Use the terrain to your advantage. Exploding barrels can often be found in rooms with powerful enemies such as skeleton brutes. Use them. You can also bait an enemy off a cliff, such as leapworms in the midnight helix.

Advanced tip: save the game BEFORE you present Olra with cursed items to purify. What she gives you is random, like a frigid finger staff, a weapon that sorcerers cannot use. Restart if you don't get what you need and you can save valuable rift crystals that way.

And speaking so saving...Don't forget to save your game after every fight. enemies like the gargoyle can one-shot you even up to level 25. Good luck.
