Dead Rising E3 2006 Demo Gameplay #1
In this video I explore the Dead Rising E3 2006 Demo (2006/05/06 Printed on disc though Serial Key shows 2006/05/26 as seen in a later video) and showcase various differences between this build and the final release.
The differences include:
Changed PP values from escorting survivors/zombie kill bonuses/environmental bonuses/photos (1000PP for 50 Zombie Kills instead of 500PP, Jeff's Join Bonus is only 500PP instead of 5000PP etc)
PP sticker for Jeff and Natalie does not get detected when photographed
Survivors are often placed in slightly different locations and are sometimes missing their weapons (Jeff has no golf club, Leah is further in Riverfield Jewelry during "A Mother's Lament" etc)
Survivors are more aggressive towards the player when they are holding a weapon
Survivors during the initial zombie invasion of the mall in the entrance plaza have significantly more health and often survive much longer than usual
Some weapons function differently (Canned drinks cannot be thrown individually etc)
Hitting zombies does not make the game freeze for a frame like in the final build (They probably put it in later to emphasize the impact of a hit, though that's merely speculation)
Glass does not brake instantly when hit
There are some strange animations (jumping down the fountain with a chainsaw produced a strange animation, not sure if in the final build)
Some missions are different (In "Cut From the Same Cloth", Kent has many more demands that I was not able to complete, I shall try again)
Levelling up does not regenerate health
Riding on the skateboard has an odd camera effect at the start
Items are missing (No katana in paradise plaza, most submachine guns missing)
Survivor "Chris" is not detected when photographed
2 sets of convicts can occur simultaneously (Shown in another video)
There are many other differences that I haven't noted here, I will work on making a more complete list (Stip0 has documented a great deal of the differences already, but not all). However, documenting all of the differences in a build like this is not a task for one person alone. I hope that as a community we can document the changes extensively and build a more comprehensive understanding of the build and the games development process.
Preservation is a communal effort. The more eyes on this build and other builds like it, the better we can document and preserve.
Huge credit to the hiddenpalace website for uploading the build
