Although it is never clearly stated in logs of any sort, Isaac Clarke would appear to have had some sort of Hand-to-Hand combat training before his adventures in Dead Space, as during Dead Space 2 he proves to be quite capable of countering and/or disarming his opponents, human or otherwise. It is however said that Isaac joined the Merchant Marines after he graduated from engineering school which vaguely insinuates that he may have learned some techniques whilst serving.
