The game appears to sometimes create a Checkpoint during the death screen animation, which results in this issue.
Problem is, the game will always boot up directly into this save, resulting in the endless death loop.

What fixed it for me was spamming the "pause" button as it seems there is a (small) window where your input is registered, and the "Pause Screen" will open.
From there you can reload your last manual save.
Not sure if I just got lucky, any of the below mentioned steps made any difference. (i also deleted local file first, booted up that game, closed it, then downloaded the corrupt file again and restarted the game)

In any case it s worth trying to open the pause menu before discarding all your progress. :)


Dead Space - Infinite Loop of Death (Game Breaking Bug)
Cannot play the game anymore, as even after restarting the game, restarting the console, and shutting the console down and removing the power cable I am still stuck in the death animation.
