Dead Space Remake Playthrough Part 2 Upgrading the Arsenal 1440p Ultra Settings
Dead Space is a 2023 survival horror video game developed by Motive Studio and published by Electronic Arts. A remake of the 2008 game of the same name developed by EA Redwood Shores, it was released on January 27, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. It is the first release in the Dead Space series since 2013's Dead Space 3.
After being such a massive fan of the Dead Space series and having to wait so long for another entry I can't wait to play the remake and see what it has in store. As from the pre-release footage I have seen and the little of the game I have played so far it seems like they have tried to stay as faithful to the original as possible whilst also trying to make any improvements that can be thought of (there are a lot of quality of life improvements like control adjustments).
One of the most obvious improvements is the graphics that have really upgraded the environmental detail making the Ishimura seem like a much more real place and not just a series of mostly empty corridors/rooms. Lighting has also seen a massive upgrade and the dark areas of the game are much darker than the original and really take advantage of this to help build a tense atmosphere. There has also been massive improvements to particle/environmental effects that help obscure enemies and make you question if you actually saw something which really helps put you on edge.
Gameplay seems very similar to the original but enemies do seem to take a bit more damage to defeat, but this is probably a good thing as the original Dead Space was a little easy at parts and it helps show of the peeling system when dismembering the Necromorphs. I know some changes have been made to the weapons, so I will be interested to see how this effects combat throughout the game. Another big improvement is that the Ishimura is now a fully open environment allowing for open exploration and the implementation of side quests, that I hope have been taken advantage of to add some of the background lore and make the remake fit a little bit better within the Dead Space universe than the original.
The only thing I prefer in the original is some of the sounds and visual effects of the Plasma cutter seem to have more weight and impact than the remake. But it is only minor and isn't a deal breaker for the remake.
Let me know what you think of the commentary as well, if there are any changes you would like me to make to it.
I can't wait to get through this series and see what the remake has to offer and hope you all enjoy it with me.
