The sound design and the slasher necromorphs just aren't scary in the remake. They were pretty unsettling in the original though. What the remake does improve is the gore and the weapons. The upgrades give every weapon that punch they didn't have in the og. That being said, the remake is better as an action game but it does not work well as a horror.
