When playing Dead Space for the first time as part of a live stream, I watched the trailer that plays when the game idles on the start screen. Realising how heavily visual this trailer was and the impact it had when described in a live setting by Jenna who was playing the game with me, I thought I'd put this video together (with the assistance of much appreciated collaborators) to show just how straightforward it is to make a visual-centric trailer accessible to gamers without sight.


This video is part of the #TranscribingGames project, an effort to provide textual and audio described versions of events, player-controlled or otherwise, that occur in videogames. Additionally, the project can and does include external elements such as trailers. Such information is not only of benefit to gamers without sight, who would not otherwise be able to gain understanding of elements that are only conveyed visually, but also to anyone else who wishes to gain a deeper understanding of the immersive qualities of audio design, scriptwriting and numerous other facets that are encompassed in the process of analysing the medium of videogames and creating content surrounding them.
